# Query a Midjourney Task

> Retrieve Midjourney task status and results

## Statuses

Task statuses include `NOT_START`, `SUBMITTED`, `IN_PROGRESS`, `MODAL`, `SUCCESS`, and `FAILURE`. `MODAL` is an intermediate state that requires a mask and prompt submission, not a failure.

A successful response may include `grid_image_url`, `image_urls`, `video_urls`, `buttons`, `prompt`, and `description`. The `describe` action returns text in `description`.

`GET /v1/tasks/{task_id}` is a generic query alias for the same task.
