# Midjourney Best Practices

> Tips for Midjourney inputs, retries, and task handling

* Images must have publicly accessible URLs and must not exceed 12 MiB each.
* Upload images before submitting `image_urls` or `mask_url`; do not submit base64 directly.
* Continue a task in the `MODAL` state with `modal` instead of treating it as a failure to retry.
* Retry network errors and 5xx responses with exponential backoff. Do not retry invalid parameters, moderation rejections, or missing parent tasks.
* Result URLs may expire; save the URLs returned by ToAPIs.
* Video charges scale with the batch size when `batch_size` is 2 or 4.
